Retail Value Alignment

From December 2025, Market Value Assessor has been fully aligned with our updated valuation methodology, which uses retail transacted values – the actual selling prices of vehicles in the market.

This ensures Market Value Assessor continues to provide accurate, market-reflective valuations, with no visible change to displayed values.

What this means for you:

  • Market Value Assessor remains your benchmark for consistent, real-market valuations.
  • Values continue to reflect current retail transactions and pricing trends.

This alignment formed part of our broader valuation methodology enhancements, completed with the transition to the updated system on 1 December 2025.

Key Updates Implemented earlier this year:

We have completed a series of major enhancements to our vehicle valuation methodology, improving accuracy and aligning results even more closely with real market conditions.
These updates ensure the products you rely on continue to deliver the most precise, consistent, and transparent valuations across all channels.

1. Exact Mileage Calculations

  • We have moved from average mileage estimates to exact mileage-based valuations, ensuring results are tailored to a vehicle’s actual usage for greater precision.
  • Valuations based on average mileage are longer be available, and average mileage data will no longer appear in the product.
  • New Feature: Observed Average Mileage will be accessible through the Ad Search feature within Market Value Assessor, offering insights into the average mileage of vehicles currently for sale.

2. Removal of Mileage Corrections

  • Mileage correction factors will be eliminated, as mileage will now be fully integrated into the core valuation process.
  • With exact mileage valuations, there will no longer be a basic value, removing the need for separate mileage adjustments or corrections.

FAQs

Currently, Grade Low Trade values serve as a trusted guide for pricing vehicles in poor condition, typically those requiring extensive cosmetic and Bodyshop repairs or major repairs, such as replacing a bumper or door. These values provide a dependable reference for making informed pricing decisions.
Moving forward, Grade values will no longer be provided as a separate category. Instead, standard Trade values will serve as the foundation for all valuations, offering a more flexible approach to pricing.
For vehicles in poor condition, we recommend leveraging the Repair Estimate feature, which can help calculate the cost of cosmetic and Bodyshop repairs. This allows you to incorporate repair costs more accurately when adjusting values. If you do not currently have access to Repair Estimate, please contact our Sales Team for more information.
Alternatively, you can apply a value reduction factor to the base values, tailoring adjustments to reflect the vehicle’s condition. This can be defined using your professional judgement and expertise.
By transitioning to standard Trade valuations and individually managing condition-based adjustments, you retain full control over your pricing process while aligning with real-world market conditions. This ensures your valuations remain accurate, competitive, and adaptable to a wide range of scenarios.
Currently, Grade Average values provide a reliable benchmark for vehicles requiring moderate cosmetic work and Bodyshop attention. These repairs are typically isolated to a few areas of the bodywork and align with a mid-grade vehicle condition. These values assist in assessing and pricing vehicles appropriately based on their overall state.
Moving forward, Grade values will no longer be provided as a separate category. Instead, standard Trade values will serve as the foundation for all valuations, offering a more flexible approach to pricing.
To support condition-related adjustments, our Repair Estimate feature can calculate the cost of cosmetic and Bodyshop repairs, providing a reliable basis for refining valuations. If you do not currently have access to the Repair Estimate feature, please contact your account manager for more information.
By transitioning to standard Trade valuations and individually managing condition-based adjustments, you retain full control over your pricing process while aligning with real-world market conditions. This ensures your valuations remain accurate, competitive, and adaptable to a wide range of scenarios.
Currently, Grade High Trade values provide a reliable reference for vehicles in good condition that may only require minor cosmetic attention. These repairs typically include small, removable part replacements (e.g., wiper blades, badges, number plates) or SMART (Small and Medium Area Repair Techniques) repairs for bodywork and trim. They may also involve minor panel repairs requiring some refinishing.
Moving forward, Grade Average values will no longer be provided as a separate category. Instead, standard Trade values will serve as the foundation for all valuations, offering a more flexible approach to pricing.
For vehicles currently falling under the Grade High category, we recommend adjusting the base Trade values to reflect their good condition by applying a value-increasing factor.
The specific adjustment factor can be determined using your professional judgement and expertise. For added precision, our Repair Estimate feature can help evaluate minor cosmetic repair costs, ensuring your valuations account for the vehicle’s condition while remaining aligned with market trends. If you do not currently have access to the Repair Estimate feature, please contact our Sales Team for more information.
By transitioning to standard Trade values and individually managing condition-based adjustments, you retain full control over your valuations. This approach ensures that your pricing remains accurate, flexible, and competitive, tailored to each vehicle’s specific condition.
Currently, Disposal Values provide a benchmark for Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) sold in an unprepared condition, often sourced from fleets. These vehicles typically require significant cosmetic work to bring them up to retail condition, while still meeting basic roadworthiness standards. For vehicles in very poor condition, adjustments to the Guide Disposal Value are often necessary to reflect their state accurately.
Moving forward, disposal values will no longer be provided as a separate category. Instead, standard Trade & Retail values will serve as the foundation for all valuations, offering a more flexible approach to pricing.
For LCVs in poor condition, we recommend adjusting the base values (Trade or Retail) using a value reduction factor, which you can define based on your professional judgement and the vehicle’s specific condition.
To assist you with this process, the Repair Estimate feature can provide detailed calculations for cosmetic and Bodyshop repair costs. By using Repair Estimate, you can better understand the financial impact of the work required and adjust valuations accordingly. This ensures greater accuracy and confidence when pricing LCVs, particularly those that require significant preparation to meet market expectations.
If you do not currently have access to the Repair Estimate feature, please contact your account manager for further information.
By transitioning to standard Trade and Retail valuations and individually managing condition-based adjustments, you retain full control over your pricing process while aligning with real-world market conditions. This ensures your valuations remain accurate, competitive, and adaptable to a wide range of scenarios.

If you wish to obtain a quick valuation, we recommend using an external, market-reliable source for average mileage. However, within our Live Retail data, we provide an observed average mileage powered by data-driven insights of vehicles currently on the market. Unlike static figures, this observed mileage dynamically reflects the latest market trends.
Please note that relying solely on average mileage may not provide the most accurate reflection of current market conditions, as our new approach factors in a broader range of variables to align valuations with real-world behaviour.
