What’s changed?

Retail Transacted Value Update

As of 1 December 2025, Compare valuations are based on retail transacted values – what vehicles are actually selling for, rather than advertised prices.

This enhancement ensures your valuation data reflects real market activity with greater accuracy and consistency.

You may notice lower displayed values in some cases. This does not indicate a reduction in actual vehicle value, but rather a truer, transaction-based reflection of the market.

Key benefits:

  • True-to-market data – valuations based on actual retail transactions.
  • Fairer outcomes – supports more accurate insurance, finance, and fleet decisions.
  • Smarter planning – provides a realistic foundation for TCO, depreciation, and forecasting.

Key Updates implemented earlier this year:

Earlier in 2025, we introduced important updates to our vehicle valuation methodology for the UK market, specifically for Compare.
These changes improved accuracy and ensured valuations better reflect current market conditions.

Key enhancements included:

1. Exact Mileage Calculations

  • We moved from average mileage estimates to exact mileage-based valuations, ensuring results are tailored to a vehicle’s actual usage for greater precision.

2. End of Mileage Corrections:

  • Mileage correction factors were withdrawn, as mileage is now fully integrated into the core valuation model.

What does it mean in terms of functionality?

Now, if the Mileage is not filled/indicated (Reference KM) in the search page, a pop-up message from the system is displayed, as shown below:

Once provided the exact mileage, the system provides the vehicles list:

Why this matters

With these updates, Compare now combines vehicle-specific mileage data and verified retail transactions to provide a single, transparent view of market value.
You can rely on valuations that mirror real-world pricing trends and remain consistent with other Autovista Group valuation products.

Mileage corrections are now directly incorporated into Glass’s Trade and Retail values, making them fully data-driven. Instead of relying on fixed values for mileage corrections, adjustments are based on real-time market observations.
As a result, there will no longer be a fixed “standard mileage,” and a value based on an average mileage will not be provided separately. Powered by an AI-driven system and supported by our expert editor team, this approach delivers a reliable, comprehensive view of the market, reflecting real-world pricing trends and supporting confident decision-making.

If you wish to obtain a quick valuation, we recommend using an external, market-reliable source for average mileage. However, within our Live Retail data, we provide an observed average mileage powered by data-driven insights of vehicles currently on the market. Unlike static figures, this observed mileage dynamically reflects the latest market trends.
Please note that relying solely on average mileage may not provide the most accurate reflection of current market conditions, as our new approach factors in a broader range of variables to align valuations with real-world behaviour.
